Krang's Body or flypaper?

here's poor old "krang's android body"......and i imagine that grimace on his face is his reaction to his flesh melting away.  i always wanted to repaint this guy since i got him in an ebay lot in 2001.  there are so many cool little hoses and wires that were not painted that would really bring out the mechanical evil once accented in their metallic glory.  the hands, though were a sticky and gooey mess of aged plastic.  the arms and legs were tacky, so i scrubbed him up and started painting him....

 in less than a week of finishing all but cleaning up the last bit of detail, and applying new decals....his head and limbs began to discolor a bit.  then, almost overnight, they all became gooey and yellowed out the flesh tone like he had jaundice.  you can see the difference in colors from the body (the new color that the entire body was painted in) and the limbs and head, which is pretty different.

it's pretty sad, because the figure was turning out to look pretty nice and would have made a cool addition....but as it stands now, it looks like he'll just be either locked away in a shoebox to slowly decompose.  or i might just bring myself to chuck him in the trash.

PANDA KAHN!!!!!!!

here's a work in progress, just for shits.  3 of his 4 armor pads got packed up in a different box...so they are unfinished.  and he needs a a couple more layers of color to bring out his teeth and fur.

the plastic on this figure is having a chemical break down that is common on a lot of older figures that causes it to become sticky.  it's only on his hands, thankfully, unlike my KRANG's ANDROID BODY that is a complete fuck show of a gooey mess.....but that's for another day.

LEATHERface!....er...HEAD!

here's my take on ole LEATHERHEAD.  i wanted him to look more like a real alligator. i'm not too sure how or why most alligators in cartoons/toys/comics always ended up being bright green.....obsession with a particularly old, moss covered gator kept in captivity?  fuck if i know.

MUCKMAN, man

yet another custom painted TMNT guy.  senor MUCKMAN!  i posted a work in progress of this dude back in april, and here's the finished version in all of his digusting glory:

 this guy is totally disgusting.  i think he personally embodies the the amazing skills of the unsung scuplting heroes of vintage playmates.  worms and bugs and veins.....just rad on so many levels!

Muy Mondo Gecko

oh the treasures you can find in the back of the closet!  i've been attempting to get a working camera to get pics posted up of my custom paint jobbers.....and it's been one minor snafu after another.  well, we had sony digital camera buried in the back of the closet...that after a brief battery charged, worked like a charm....and connected with ease to my scanner's usb cable.  wonderful magic technology!

anyway, here's my take on "mondo gecko" of tmnt fame.

 i subdued the the colors of the original figure, and  tried to bring out the details a bit truer to that of a real life gecko.   here's a pic of the original mondo:

Background Check

i've been going through the pages of PowerJeff and looking for art inconsistencies and the like.....it's pretty fucking humorous to me having to witness over my utter disdain for drawing backgrounds.  like, if i feel that the background is mundane....i just don't do.  i don't even try to add like a pole or a locker.  just white.  ultimately, it is me being not sure what would be fitting for a background. but there are times i can't get seem to get the perspective right.  the shitty part is,  it makes me look just lazy.....which don't get me wrong, i'm totally lazy.....

comic book necromancy

well, i've finally done it.  i've finally gone and gotten motivated enough to do something that i should have done 10 years ago.  i had this idea on the shitter last week, one of those "why didn't i think of this before"  moments where i wanted to hit myself upside the head.  so i conferred with jason, and we've decided to move forward with getting our silly comic on the means streets and into grubby mitts everywhere!  i've been working on a design for our official website (no more freeloading off random host sites), resurrecting the blogs and twitters, we're going over the first 3 chapters to make sure there's no copywrited material and all the art work and jokes are up to snuff, and jason's cruising over my spelling errors....because, truth be told, i am horrible at spelling.

once all our ducks are mostly in a row, i'll be making announcements (aka annoying my friends) to check out the book, and prepare for the print release.  now if only that scanner we bought 2 weeks ago would ever fucking get here....

turtle power!

i've got boxes and boxes of just random action figures.  i attempted to do an inventory of them the other weekend.  it was a bit overwhelming. at least they are organized by type, somewhat....for whatever that is worth.

anyway, i've finally started to work on these custom action figure projects that i've been sitting on for a few years now.  blow the dust off this blog and post some pics of some of the stupid shit i do for giggles.

"turtles fight with honor!"

when i was 14 i had a dark secret (no, not powerjeff) i fucking loved ninja turtles.  it was that age when you're "supposed to be" too old to be playing with toys....whatever the fuck that is supposed to mean. anyway, ninja turtles were fucking awesome!  i saved my change to scoop up a new figure whenever i could.  i had quite the collection.....until an incident with an ex-roommate's brother that used them all for a shooting gallery.  a few years, a few garage sales, a few flea markets, and a few ebay auctions later, and i've reclaimed my TMNT collection of old along with a few new plastic friends.

muckman is one my most favorite ninja turtle figures.  he is just fucking disgusting, and the details in the sculpting is fucking ridiculous! he was the first figure i attempted to repaint when i was 15.  so, i figured i'd give this guy another go round under the brush.  i'm almost finished painting him, and even though i can't seem to get my fucking camera to work properly, i'll post a work in progress pic:

so far, so good, i guess.

once i get this camera issue sorted out, i'll post some better pics of this guy; as well as the other crap i've been working on.
